Partridge, Jim, UK Spring board Bench, 2004 oak, 17 ¾ x 90 x 12 ½ ’’ collection of the artist Born in Leeds England, Jim Partridge likes to think of his work as all about “fitting in”. How a natural material fits into an imposed form; how an unnatural material fits into a landscape; how an inside fits into an outside, and on a personal level, how an individual fits into society. Everything that he does has a tremendous physical presence…. a sort of monumentality, yet some small, but light with poise. Many of his works include sheltering seats for a windswept Northumberland (England) headland.
