Bench for three, 2003 mahogany and milkpaint 17 x 48 x 16’’ collection of the artist, courtesy of Pritam and Eames Gallery, East Hampton, NY
John Eric Byers cites an interest in “universal forms” as the basis for his solidly built, geometrically shaped pieces. Made of solid mahogany each piece is brought to light by the dense patterning and layers of milkpaint. John Eric Byers studied at the Wendell Castle School and is represented in the permanent collections of Museum of Art and Design, New York; Mint Museum of Craft and Design, NC and the Renwick Gallery, Wahington, DC.
